Gone are the days of boys wearing tuxedos or suits and girls wearing a dress along with a black drape to get their Senior Pictures for the Year Book so everyone looks alike…..

Today we have lots of choices in the experience of Portrait Photography and each High School Senior wants to convey their unique personalities and style to the world. Some students choose to go with the school contracted photographer…. some choose to have pictures done with a friend or family member…..and then some students choose a photography business. Let’s look at some of the differences and what sets your boutique experience with Sharon Wallace Photography apart from the crowd.

• The Contracted school photographer - is a typically a big local or a national chain service that has been contracted by the school. A bid has been entered and fees have been set for specific services, such as year book images and then they sell additional images to the students.

  The times for scheduling are typically limited by needs of the yearbook and the experience follows something like this: You go online or get a card with the information from the school and then go online or call to make your appointment.

  You may have some general clothing or backdrop options to choose from but your clothing pieces and backdrop styles are limited to a few choices, and specific number of poses or “looks”.
  They use studio lights and have a standard setup with standard gear for the studio space.

  Directions for the sessions and clothing are all right their online for you to read about.

  This dictates your fees and the number of images you might have to choose from. Typically, you can then make your choices, pick your time slot, and show up for your session.

  After the 20 minute give or take session with a store trained photographer - you view the images and choose what you want to print. Sometimes this occurs right after the session and sometimes it occurs online.

  Done and Done.

• Family or Friend Photographers - this experience can vary greatly based on the skill and experience of the friend or family.

  They may or may not give you any assistance with styling your session, or posing help and typically they take your photos at a preset time and location and then “get you your pictures” either on a usb, or online.

  The quality and style potentially could vary greatly no matter what the quality and experience of their equipment is. There are some very adapt photographers out there so the results or experience could vary so widely I just can’t even accurately capture it.

  We provide styling guidance and help you to choose outfits that convey your personality. We will help you go through your closet or head out to your favorite store with you. We also have a “style closet” you can pull pieces from to accent or put together your look!

  Next we work with you to get the perfect location and make sure your outfits will be speaking to to you in this location! We are located in Victorville in the High Desert of Southern California. We spend a lot of time and effort to hunt the best light, the best colors, and unique locations for a great experience for every Senior. From the beach, to Joshua Tree National Park, to Big Bear, the dunes, a dry lake or downtown Redlands…we help you pull you style snd location together.

  We love you to have as many outfits as you have hobbies and interests that you enjoy at the moment. We know your personality is so multifaceted and we want to capture it all!

  We also provide posing assistance to help you feel comfortable in front of the lens and create a variety of looks that show off and capture your style.

  We make sure the Session Experience is amazing. We do bring snacks and water, and we love treating you special. All focus is on you during your session. Get ready for the star treatment!

  After your session, we set up a viewing time - typically a week out, for you to view your images, select the ones you want for grandma, the walls for mom and the favorite ones that go in your album. Our products are ordered from a Professional Lab and made to last a lifetime.

  Oh, and that album we were discussing…..it will grace your mom’s coffee table. Just know that your mom is going to enjoy it when you are away at college, and then pull it out again to embarrass you in front of your date, and even eventually showing it to your own children!
